Hello,

I recently built a new system and everything seems to be working fine - apart from my GPU.

The temps are fine when playing games - 1440p max settings at 120fps (average) I hit 69C max. There is some coil whine however it is not the main issue.

However when I'm idle the problem occurs. My GPU seems to 'rev up' every so often and the memory clock skyrockets and I've no idea why. However this does not cause the fans to begin to spin.

Here is a video I recorded of Afterburner showing this:

I sat on the desktop whilst these statictics were recorded.

All help is appreciated. If you need more information juist ask.

It may also be worth noting that my CPU constatly stays at 4.6Ghz without me ever overcloking it.

My system is:
i7 9700k
Z390 Aorus Master
EVGA RTX 2080 XC Ultra
32Gb Corsair Vengence LPX 3200Mhz
Corsair RM750X power supply
500GB M.2 NVme Samsung 970 Evo PLus
1TB Samsung Evo 960

So you question why the GPU revs up when it does some task? Find out what is using the GPU. Windows desktop rendering is an option, browsers are often hardware accelerated. Could be some stupid Windows 10 menu item using the GPU.

The reason the fan doesn't spin up is because the card is still cool. That is temperature driven. When idle the heatsink has enough thermal mass to absorb these quick loads.
