Question RTX 2080 Ti from 1080Ti with ROG PG27UQ

Hi I just got my ROG PG27UQ open box for 1350 “Like New” I had to.. So My current rig is a Core i6 6600K OC’d to 4.2ghz 16GB 3200mhz RAM, Asus ROG STRIX z270F and the ROG 1080Ti OC ed.*

I am running Destiny 2 on 4K HDR and it looks stunning, my question is would a 2080/2080Ti net me better FPS where it is worth the upgrade. My understanding so far is that the 2080 is not worth it at all but, I can’t get good information on the 1080ti to the 2080ti. I play FFXIV when 4K and my 1080ti hover around 90fps, overwatch which hits above 140 and now Destiny 2 is around 70-100 depending on scenario.*

I could sell my 1080ti for roughly 500-600 and use that ti upgrade to a 2080ti but is it worth it and how many more FPS in the aforementioned games would I net? Also is the CPU/Mobo a limiting factor here?

I mean, a 2080TI is a stronger card, so will net you better performance.... but is it "worth" it vs a 1080TI? For the money, it's debateable, but I'd have to say no.

CPU might hold you back a little, only being a quad core.... but 1440p and high settings, shouldn't be a problem at all and a GPU upgrade should still net you performance gains.

Interesting. Well my thing would be in the 4K realm, I saw the graph you linked, thank you. I noticed these are all on highest settings. The 2080Ti hits 91 FPS on average while on highest with my 1080ti I am more in the high 60’s or low 70’s so it seems pretty accurate,


So I should assume with “high” settings and AA turned off I could see FPS in the low 100’s with a 2080Ti, keeping my same CPU?

At 4K? Yeah, dropping down from max settings, 100ish FPS should be achievable.

As you move up in resolution, your CPU matters less.
