Hi!
So my friend is selling an Rtx 2080ti for about 340 USD. now I know it is worth it but should I flip it and sell it for maybe 1100USD because the market is crazy or should I keep it to myself.

here is my rig
Ryzen 3 2200g
8GB 3000mhz
rx580 8GB sapphire
Cx550m

I know my rig isn't that good but if I keep the RTX 2080ti and overtime upgrade my ram and CPU would it be worth it or should I flip it and get something a bit worse.
I mostly game and study on my pc and it works fine (unless I'm playing warzone but whose pc works when they play that game).

Solution
Alternatively you could sell the rx580 and Ryzen 3 and likely get enough cash to purchase a B550 board and a Ryzen 5600x and have a pretty solid gaming rig build around that 2080ti. Although you'll need a better PSU as well.

you should keep it for yourself, then you would only need to upgrade the system you needed to, while getting more gpu performance without having to look at other gpu.

You could just sell your 580, your ram, your cpu, also your mobo if you wanted to, go with ryzen 3 3100 or 3300x with B550m Pro4 as the cheapest option and 2x8gb ddr4 3200 to 3600 at the cheapest price.

Or just go with i3 10105F and B560m Pro4 and 3200 to 3600 ddr4 ram :D

also i dont like scalping :D

that's still a good one, well before you upgrade the cpu, update it to the latest bios, and everythings good. continue to sell the ram cpu gpu (or keep it for separate if somthing's up) and the psu. buy a 3300x, or 5600G or 5600X, 80+ Gold psu from corsair or seasonic that have capacity around 600w to 750w, and buy a much better ram, if you dont mind RGBs, go with Team Dark Z Alpha 3600mhz 16GB kit :D

Why should I sell the ram? cant I just buy another 8gb stick?

If you are considering to buy a 3070ti, selling 2080ti isn't a great option because both are close in terms of performance. If you are aiming for something like 6900 xt or 3090 then it'd make sense. I think the market will never be back till 2023. Is it worthed to wait for that? You decide. On the other hand if all you do is play games like CS go or valorant @1080p then 580 is enough. But for any AAA mid-high gaming those aren't the go to baseline anymore.

sell the rx580. once the craziness stops, it would be worth nothing.

I sold 2x 480 for 500$CAD each a few months ago lol. they were just gathering dust for more than 2 years. too lazy to sell them at 100$ at the time
then suddenly they worth their weight in gold !

on the other hand, i bought the GPU in my signature with the waterblock for 800CAD just before the pandemic. I will probably be using it for years. it's like a 1080ti of the modern era.
