Hello, i was just wondering, what everyone's thought's are about the new RTX 2080.
so i know iv seen a lot of hate on it but would it be a good upgrade from my Gpu 1060 ?

my specs are Intel i5-8600k 5.00 Ghz overclocked
Cpu liquid cooler
M.2 drive
750 watt power supply
16gb Ram rgb
Mobo Asus Z375 gaming mother board

So i live in Australia, the Shops here , are charging around 1350.
the Nvidia site are charging 1,199
i know , australian's are getting fisted lol
but the 1080 ti is 1,129 i think. so i know its only 10 % or so better benchmarks than the 1080ti but having the new GPU wouldn't be that bad would it? i know no games have ray tracing if i spelled that right but i guess its a investment for future proof? i understand everyone is like oh its 100 bucks more and all but from me coming from a 1060?

thanks

Look the 2 cards at the moment trade blows-there are instances where the 1080ti does better and at times where the 2080 is better. I do imagine though that further down the track as drivers mature and kinks are worked out that the 2080's performance will increase further-the performance gain may be even more prominent if the exclusive techs of the 20xx series are a success (DLSS). The price difference is the main drawback though-the price premium is just not worth it to me. If you were keen you'd probably pick one up from gumtree for around the $900 mark or even brand new for around $1100. What resolution/refresh rate are you aiming to game at?

Yeah that is true, i think its just thinking future proof. at the moment i have 1060. so if i get the 2080, i would be selling my GPU, so i would pay less then what it is for sale on. i was aiming for a 1440p gaming. i have not got a monitor yet that does over 100hz but at the moment i have a 60hz one to keep me company but yeah 2k is the goal. sure 4k would be good but not for a long time. i think between those 2 cards its a half half but with RTX , just have to wait for mature drivers.

RTX 2080 or GTX 1080 Ti they do well over 120 FPS at 1440P and 4K 60FPS nicely now is the price and RTX being to new you have to wait for new drivers to mature and new games even patch up games will not show the full potential until they implement the new technology on Game from the ground up and are devs really going to jump into adding all this new tech to games? Who knows only PC has this tech right and only the 20 series support it if consoles also support then I can say yeah go head dish out 800 bucks or more on the 2080. The GTX 1080To still being used as a high end card Ace Combat 7 a Upcoming video game to pc willl do 4K 60FPS at ultra settings with GTX 1080 Ti RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti.
