Hey, i have an rtx 2080ti and an r7 2700x when i play more demanding games like doom i get the 90-100% usage but when i play easy games like fortnite i usually get 80fps and 15% usage. Anyone know why this is happening and could help me?

Your maximum fps you can achieve is also dependent on the cpu and RAM. If the cpu/RAM combination can only deliver 90fps to the gpu then that’s all you will get. What’s the full pc spec?
cpu: ryzen 7 2700x
gpu: rtx 2080ti xc ultra
ram: 16gb ddr4 3200mhz
mobo: asus b450f
cooler: noctua nhd-15
psu: gigabyte 850w gold

Is the RAM actually running at 3200mhz? Is the RAM 1x16gb or 2x8gb?

Can you run userbenchmark and share the public link to the results.

Everything is in spec, did you watch other people with your cpu how many fps got in Fortnite?
just watched some videos of people getting 200-240 on fortnite 1080p with a similar system to mine. i have an i9 9900k i’m planning to throw in do you think that’ll solve my issue?

The 9900k is a much stronger gaming cpu but also requires a much better cooler and a reinstall of Windows after changing motherboard.

We should still look at your current setup more closely. If you can get the userbenchmark link to the results page working that would be a start of looking.

Are all gpu and motherboard drivers up to date? What’s the cpu and gpu temperatures when gaming?

yes all drivers are up to date im currently trying to do a fresh install of the nvidia drivers with ddu. temperature wise my cpu never reaches over 55c while just gaming and since the gpu never really gets to 100% usage the average temperatures are 50-70c. and if you don’t mind telling me why would i require a new window install if i use my 9900k? will i loose everything?

The 9900k uses a different motherboard. Whenever you change motherboards a reinstall of Windows is highly recommended and usually quicker in the long run than trying to solve performance or stability issues with a transferred Windows.

by fresh install you mean not keeping anything from my old install?

All that needed to be done was mouse over and copy paste the relevant part of the broken link in a new window:
https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/48564089

OP's system didn't even complete the entire benchmark - it failed the gpu portion, thus the missing gpu in red letters.
Seems it wasn't detected. Drivers are suspect, but it may be something else.
I’m on an iPhone at the moment and can’t open your link or the others.

i was also wondering why it didn’t “detect” the gpu i have the latest nvidia driver.

Did reinstalling after using DDU help?
well it gave me an fps boost in fortnite but i tried playing other titles which are not very hard to run especially for an rtx 2080ti and it’s the same problem. do you think my gpu is broken or do i just have bad settings?

Does userbenchmark recognise the gpu now?

I’ve not seen a dying gpu just loose performance, there are usually more serious issues so I’d expect the gpu is ok.

It’s at this point I might consider a fresh install of Windows anyway to rule out a software problem.

i will update you tomorrow with another user benchmark test. i’m also thinking the same thing, i should just wipe all of my drives and fresh install of windows once i pop in the 9900k with a maximus 11 motherboard.
