Question RTX 3060 not performing well

Hello, so I've recently upgraded from a GTX 1060 to a RTX 3060. I thought that the upgrade would improve performance greatly, but it hasn't. As a matter a fact, the average FPS rate in games feels worse then how it was when I had my 1060. My computer also feels slightly more laggy.



My specs:

GPU: RTX 3060 12 GB

CPU: i7-4770k

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR3-1600 CL9 Memory

Motherboard: Asrock Z87 Extreme4 ATX LGA1150

Power supply: EVGA 600W



I checked for malware, don't have any.



I'm not sure what to do, any help would be really appreciated.

Last bios? Last chipset drivers? DDU through safe mode for the old drivers? Installed new drivers that are 2 releases old? Reset Windows?

With a nearly 10 year old cpu and only 8gb RAM in newer games those components are going to be quite limiting regardless of the gpu used.

It could be that when the cpu/RAM is not limiting you are getting better fps but then the fps drops when it hits points that are cpu/RAM are limiting. Big swings in fps/frame time can feel worse than a more consistent but lower fps.
