Hello there!
So i'm planning on buying a gpu once gpus get back to msrp/below (I live in Europe so i don't get the good deals that US buyers get) and i'm looking at these 2 atm (also maybe the 3070 if i can find a good deal).
I'm gaming at 1440p and i plan on keeping the gpu for at least 4 years, so i'd like it to be as ''future proof'' as possible.
On paper the additional 4gb of vram will greatly benefit the 6700xt and while i was looking at some benchmarks to see the performance between them,i came across this video:
View: https://youtu.be/CZxzbAKUk0w?t=360

That was at 4k,will the vram difference make a big impact on performance at 1440p in upcoming games? Which one do you guys think will age better?

That video shows what happens when you create a situation where the Vram buffer overflows - it will tank performance. That said in this instance a couple of tweaks would drop the vram usage a bit and it would no longer be an issue (probably virtually no noticeable impact on visual quality). There is a point where Vram starts to become an issue, for example 2gb cards these days can only run current games on minimum settings (which does impact visuals) however I don't think 8gb is going to become obsolete soon so I doubt you would get into this type of situation if you don't mind fiddling with the settings a little.

As to which will age better, well the extra vram on the 6700 XT will help with allowing you to keep texture settings on max for longer, although the flip side is the RTX 3XXX cards are much stronger in ray tracing enabled titles so if that is important to you (or becomes required for future games) then that may swing things in favour of the nVidia card.

TL, DR, I'm not sure you can go far wrong either way as both have pros and cons.
