Hey people! So I'm trying to figure out if i7 4790K is enough for RTX 3060 or RTX 3060 Ti at 1440p ultra settings.
I also considered 3060 and 1080 for FullHD and 1080 Ti for QuadHD but then after seeing that 3060 is closer to 1080 Ti I realized it might be too much at 1080p for the CPU and buying a used 1080(Ti) is kinda unattractive knowing how delicate of a component it is and not knowing how it was treated (plus i wouldn't want to keep playing at 1080p so GTX1080 is out of the game).
Eventually I'm only left with 3060/Ti at 1440p. Performance of 3060 Ti at QuadHD is be equivalent to 2060 Super (and worse than 3060's) at 1080p and as I understand 2060S is the edge of i7 4790K at 1080p.
I would love to know your opinion on this and get a piece of advice. Hearing some experiences with similar setups would be highly appreciated!
+ Monitor would be at 60-75Hz and the CPU is at stock speeds (4.4 GHz).

Im running 2600k at 4.5 with 1080Ti 1440p for 4ish years now and in Ghost Recon WL, FC 5/ND, most demanding games I've played on it, and im satisfied. Gpu usage is fine, cpu not maxed out, frame rates are somewhat 10 or so lower than 8700k in same games. Im fine with that. Unbalanced match isn't as big as some people think it is. 4790k should do fine with that level or bit more (3060ti) graphics card.

The GPU can be used as a placeholder for a new system but the bottom line is that you're going to need a platform upgrade/change, considering that the processor you've got is nearly 10 years old. As for the Ultra settings, that depends, what titles are we talking about, here?

I'm not talking about any games in particular. The main idea is that higher settings are gonna be more emphasized rather than super high frame rates.

Yeah it is a solid 1440p GPU for 70-90+ FPS depending on game (minus Cyberpunk of course). The DX12 games hits it harder than DX11 games as typical of Nivdia. However that GPU will not reach its full potential with Haswell (I know, I still have one tied to a 1080 Ti for a 1440p system which your 3060 Ti beats ). This old 4th-gen chipset is more pronounced in holding the GPU up at 1080p for running a 144Hz monitor. Hope this helps!

I don't understand what you meant in the last part. At 1080p CPU will be way overloaded with many frames by the 3060 Ti, at 1440p CPU would do a much better job. I also don't think that i7 4790k ain't enough for 1080 Ti at 1440p. I've seen quite a number of tests and the GPU is at a very high load in most games (not considering the horribly CPU-unoptimized ones).
