Question RTX 3070 good for 1440p gaming?

1440 medium-high setting yes, ultra? Maybe consider 3080 or rx 6800xt. If heavily ray traced? 3080.

if you want to play 1440 ultra setting, depends on game, 3080 would be the bare minimum. But again for medium to high setting 3070 would be epic already

I have a 3070Ti, which is songle-digit percent better than the non-Ti, maybe 7%. I usually get more than 100FPS in games like HZD. More in shooters if I would play them. And yeah, more than twice the performan e of my trusted old 1070.

If good is defined as 1440p 60hz on a high level of graphical quality on all games, then yes it will do that. Some games like Cyberpunk with ray tracing will push a 3070 to it's limit even at 60hz but it will do it with some tweaks. For 144hz, you might have to play on medium depending on the game.
I have yet to find a game I needed to play at medium. Pro tip, 100-120Hz is just fine in most cases and where it isn't, the hardware demand is usually lower anyways.

I was only thinking if the OP was playing at very high refresh rates on a graphically demanding game. Assassin's Creed Valhalla at 1440p 144hz is going to be pretty intense, but I don't really understand the value in playing those sorts of games at high frame rates anyway. I still play them at 60hz despite having a 165hz monitor.

I guess I misunderstood you there, then. Apologies. ACV is exactly the kind of game I'm talking about - you likely won't see 144+ FPS, but 100-120, sometimes 60, instead. But you won't likely see or feel a great difference anyways, it's simply not that type of game. So always wanting 144 FPS because you got a 144Hz monitor is... eh. In games where you would need that, like shooters, you will most likely have them anyways. But not all games need that.

That's ok, I do find some of the tech reviewer advice frustrating sometimes, some will assume all games must run at 144hz or higher. You can quickly get into unnecessary hardware recommendations.

I only play a few games at high FPS, for me at least it seems pointless for things like RD2 and AC.
