[SOLVED] RTX 3070 with I7-4790K @144hz upgrade question

Let me start off by detailing my setup specs:

CPU - i7 4790K (Turbo Boost only at max 3.997Ghz)
GPU - RTX - 3070 (MSI Ventus 3x OC)
Board - Maximus vii Gene
Cooling - 240 mm AIO
RAM - simple 1600hz dimm 32Gb (8x4)
Monitor - Asus TUF Gaming V27B
PSU - Corsair RM850

Ok, now that we have that out of the way, I have been debating if I need to upgrade my board and CPU to maybe a Ryzen 5600x. I mainly game at 144hz (I find this better than 1080p) and here are the benchmarks:

Shadow of the Tomb Raider (Ultra Settings)

SOTTR

Rise of the Tomb Raider (Highest Settings)

ROTTR

Horizon Zero Dawn (Ultra Settings)

Horizon

Ok, I have several questions and need some suggestions. Let me enumerate to make it easier to answer:

1. With the given FPS I am getting at 1440, how much more FPS do you think I will achieve if I switch to 5600x (Given that I am getting some 80FPS plus/minus a bit on all three titles above and if that much more FPS translate to better gaming or will I not even almost notice it?

2. My system is housed in Thermaltake V20 thus, it can only house an mATX or ITS (the latter am not fond of). This is also why I keep the stock Turbo settings at 4.4Ghz due to high temps at full load (I get max cpu temp of 77 degrees C (CPU) / 70 degrees (GPU). These numbers were derived from stress testing using Aida64 for 30mins. So, the question... given that my rig can only accommodate mATX, and I love the all glass of the Thermaltake V20, what (just in case) would be my best option for an mATX board for either a 5600x or 5900x.

3. Lastly, what RAM should I use to make the most of of the 5600x or 5900x?

4. I am aware that it may not necessarily be the best time to upgrade, which is why I am asking these questions. I am not in an immediate hurry to change systems but if I do, I want to make sure it will last me just as long as my i7. Anyway, the question is ... is there any new hardware releases that I should be aware of that may be worth my wait to upgrade? Or do I need to upgrade at all?

Thank you in advance.

Well if you upgrade your CPU to a 5600x you will get around 115 FPS in Rise of the tomb raider with DLSS enabled in the highest preset so this will give you an idea.

You will always have a smoother experience with more FPS which will make you hit more skill shots or headshots etc, but the only time I would worry about FPS making me a better player is if I am not hitting at minimum 144FPS stable on multiplayer games. In single player games just getting about 60 to 80 FPS gives you that amazing smooth experience and that's all you need. I am personally doing the 240 FPS gaming style now which means I have to stick to 1080p to reach those FPS heights, but I only reach them on competitive games optimized to reach them on certain rigs.

I have done the 60 FPS, 144FPS style before hand at the highest level of gaming and I can tell you from experience and also talking to a lot of good players and some pros that more frames = better skills and higher rank / elo no matter what anyone says with respect to peoples opinion.

Going from 144FPS to 60FPS was unplayable although I bet in time I could adapt and it will feel normal again, it was slow and felt like it was moving frame by frame. Going from 240FPS to 144hz was not as bad but still noticeable. Higher is always better but you can go pro on 144FPS / 144hz monitor, that has been proven manytimes.

The best ram for the 5600x is a decent make 3200mhz ram as minimum but you can go higher if you want a few more FPS. Most good ram makes have good cas latency which apparently helps with the gaming speeds.

I think the Asus TUF gaming b550M-Plus is a good mATX motherboard for price and quality.

The new intel's are coming very soon so you can choose which side you are on for the next few years, but you will have to wait for official comparisons, and AMD are going to 5nm EUV technology sometime in 2022 but with covid nobody can predict anything.

Awesome!!! Thank you for taking the time. Really appreciate it. If a month or two is what we are looking at for the new Intel announcement, I can still wait that long for a final decision. Again, thank you.
