Question RTX 3080 Driver Crashing

drivers and related data can become corrupted upon installation or even later.

try running DDU in Windows' Safe Mode and removing all graphical related data.
then reinstall the latest driver package directly from Nvidia's site.

if the issue continues after it may lead to a malfunctioning card.

ive done DDU in safe mode downloaded and installed the 531.41 NVIDIA Driver and went and tested the game went to the area found an albion drone started shooting it (Attacking me at the same time) the it crashed and froze on me. checked the event viewer and the first event was once again a "nvlddmkm" warning.

So what i did as a test i went and opened my msi afterburner and reduced both the core and memory clocks to -195mhz went into the game again started shooting the drone and no crashes now. So i actually my GPU is faulty afterall. what do you think is actually wrong with my RTX 3080 to cause all these crashing issues? I have the EVGA XC3 Ultra model btw and my warranty is expired and plus EVGA dont exist anymore. i dont have another $1000 sitting in my bank to replace it 🙁

plus EVGA dont exist anymore
they aren't producing new generation graphics cards but they do still exist as a hardware company.
and they do still cover any existing warranty for their products, if one was still active anyway.

all you've mentioned is a single game that crashes at a particular point.
what other issues are you facing with the card?

Does this problem only happen with this game? If so, it could just be the game also has an issue.

However it could also just be you got unlucky with the silicon lottery and the part lost more reliability than what is expected.

yeah its only this game i have the problem with but all the research im doing no one else is having this problem. my GPU isn't overclocked everything's on stock

I'll again point this to an unfortunate "loss" in the silicon lottery. Something in the card may have degraded to the point where it's not reliable as it once was or could've been. And technically speaking, anything above the base clock speed (which is 1440MHz) is overclocking.

If the card works fine otherwise with a lowered clock speed, then this is something you'll have to work with until you buy a new one.

back again from even with the downclock the game still crashed on me i have no idea whats wrong with it.

I'd say run either 3DMark Time Spy's stress test or have the card go through Unigine Superposition a few times and see if it crashes.

Ran both 3DMark and Unigene Superposition twice with no crashes. when i tested Superposition again i set it to 8K to make sure it was really stressing the card to the max and it still didn't crash so i have absolutely no clue what the issue is here. Yeah sure i can blame Ubisoft and Watch Dogs Legion but its one of those things because i dont believe a game would make my driver crash ive also tried searching up and seeing if anyone has this problem where they shoot an albion drone and it crashes but there are no results it seems to be only me with this problem so the blame must be on my hardware specifically my GPU. I did read somewhere that it could be a problem with the way my GPU is going from 2D Clocks to 3D Clocks in a certain way thats triggering a driver crash. I dont know

you don't play any other higher-end games?

if this is seriously the only thing that causes issue for your hardware then contact Ubisoft support and check their forums for related issues.

i do but i like to play anything doesn't matter if its old or new older games are usually better than new ones. but thats not the point if a specific game is causing driver crashes theres something triggering it its doing something on my card that other games dont do that makes it crash. Its exposing something wrong with my GPU thats making it crash its not something i wanna just shrug off and forget about because this problem could easily happen in a different game. No Game crashes the NVIDIA Driver period unless theres something actually wrong with the Driver which NVIDIA did note with Last Of Us Part 1 which they released a hotfix for recently. this driver crash issue i can replicate every single time same spot

Also ive tried Ubisoft Forums but no reply and useless tech support plus they are getting rid of it at the end of this month and transitioning to Discord instead.

that is the point.
it could very well be this game specifically that's causing the issue and it's less than optimal build for the PC platform.

if nothing else causes this type of issue with your card then you need to accept the possibility that it is actually this specific software that is the root of the problem.

hopefully you have at least once actually removed this game from the system and reinstalled fresh to ensure it is not just some corrupt data causing the in-game crashes.

ive tried literally everything i cant figure it out. the thing that bothers me the most about it is there nothing online mentioning this issue so it makes me feel like im only one with this problem. if it was the game or driver causing it and there was actually multiple people reporting this then yeah i wouldn't worry about it. because then im assured that's it the game or the driver responsible for doing it. i just want to be able to play games and not suffer with crashes because it just puts me wanting to play it then i cant nothing about it then.
