[SOLVED] RTX 3080 Gaming Trio Power Cable

Hi,

I will try to get a RTX 3080 MSI Gaming Trio X when it releases. It needs 3 x 8 pin power connector. I only have 2 cables from my Cooler Master 750 Gold Full Modular. These cable both have a 2 connectors at the end, can i use both connectors for the GPU?

So: 1 cable with one connector plugged in and 1 cable with both connectors plugged in?

Full PC specs:
i7-9700K (cooler: CoolerMaster ML360r)
Z390 Aorus Pro Wifi
G. Skill Trident Z 3600 mhz 16gb x 2
Samsung 970 evo 1TB
Seagate Barracuda 2TB
Graphics Card (not yet): RTX 3080 Gaming Trio X

From what I recall you need each of the three connectors coming from different rails (ports) off the PSU

Not required. The psu has a single 12v rail which all ports connect to. I see no problem using 2 cables and then 2x8 pin plugs from 1 of the cables.

Ok thanks. I did read about it a long time ago so my memory has lapsed on that.

It might apply to other psu’s.

If you read the motherboard manual it will usually say the max watts for using the 2X 8 pin on a single cable. My Seasonic said 225 watts. Since your going to be actually using both cables your fine.

EDIT the 225 watts is probably a bit underestimated according to wire gauge and length.
