hey all I am having a weird issue with my MSI GeForce RTX 3080

Normally I get idle temps that are anywhere between 30-42 degrees c depending on what my room temperature is. I would always keep my gpu fan speed at 0 when I wasnt gaming and just using my computer.
But now at idle speeds my gpu hits 50-60 degrees c at idle. with no different programs running in the background then I have for years. I put the fan speed at 100% and it hits 30-35 degrees. gpu usage at 2% on afterburner during this
While gaming I always run my gpu fans at 100% and before this idle temp spike and after it started my gpu hits temps between 50-60 degrees while gaming, example being RDR2.
Its summer so my room temp with the AC is about 72-75 depending on what i set it, but it has been this way for weeks now and my idle temps werent affected before.

I noticed this once I updated to the new geforce driver 536.67. So I rolled back my driver to the previous 536.40 driver and it still is happening. Idle temps at 50-60 degrees.
I took the card out and gave it a good de-dusting but it didnt really have dust on it in the first place.

Any ideas?

I'm surprised you got under 40C with fan stop on a 3080 period, but 50-60 does seem high for idle as I'd expect 40-50. I'd check the power draw in MSI Afterburner when your system is idle mine shows ~40W with 2 displays on. It is possible that TIM/pads have hardened/broken down so potentially taking it apart would be in order.

yeah honestly I got some pretty nice temps with it before. When its winter my room can hit 63-65 degrees and id see the temps at 25-30 with 0 fan speed.
is the gpu power draw GPU1 power on the monitor tab? I did that option and GPU power percent
GPU Power is 99(which saws W)
GPU power percent is 49
I do also have two monitors if thats what you mean by 2 displays

I got this gpu brand new on May 1 this year too

Probably, my system doesn't have an IGP so I just have the base setup. Running 536.67 drivers since I needed to update for Remnant II this is what my idle stats look like in Afterburner

It's sounding like your GPU is using significantly more idle power than mine, and usage should be extremely low like 0-1%.

I just found out what happened. Somehow in NVIDIA control panel my power management mode was set to performance. Just tried changing it back to normal and did a restart and my temps are back at 30-35 idle and my power is at 30W.
Thank you for bringing up that power usage!
