I recently built a pc with an RTX 3080, Ryzen 9 3900x, 32 gigabytes of corsair vengeance pro ram running at 3200mhz, and an ASUS rog hero crosshair viii, and I'm getting performance that is very low, to the point where its comparing with a pc for $1,000, instead of what I built for $4,000. I have seen benchmarks and they aren't adding up. For instance I play fortnite from time to time and an RTX 3060 ti is outperforming my RTX3080. I need help on this and am very confused as to why I have these performance issues.

Solution
I had to factory reset it once and wipe everything on it but other than that it was a fresh install. My motherboard drivers are the newest ones

A factory reset is not a fresh install of Windows, it will be configured for whatever system it came out of. You should be installing Windows completely fresh using the installation media. This could definitely cause performance problems.

Also you confirmed motherboard drivers are up to date, what about the gpu driver?
Run userbenchmark are share the public link to the results.

What other games have you tried? Fortnite is not very gpu demanding and generally performance is dictated by the cpu/RAM.
I also play GTA V and beamNG drive. They both aren't performing as good. I used to play on a 980m and an i7 6th gen and he performance is not that far apart

The resolution is 1080p and here are the benchmarks https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/37375850
the motherboard drivers are up to date
You RAM is only running at 2133mhz. Go into the BIOS and enable XMP / DOCP. Once you have the RAM at 3200mhz run the benchmark again.

You are going to struggle to fully utilise a 3080 if only running 1080p, it’s really overkill. It will be limited by the cpu in most games. The 3080 is really suited to 1440p and above.

So should I switch to 1440p resolution?

What do you mean by 'switch to' ? If you have a 1440p monitor you should already be at that resolution. If you have a 1080p monitor you'll need a new monitor.
I got an asus tuf monitor mainly because it has a 280hz panel and since I have a 3080 I want to be able to run higher fps and have my games be smoother. The problem is that I paid $400 for it and it's 1080p and there is no way I'm gonna switch my monitor anytime soon

ok I will make sure to install windows using the media installation. my GPU drivers are up to date as I updated them to the newest ones yesterday
