Question RTX 3090 artefacts and crash @ 56 degrees temp ?

Hi guys,

after over a month of waiting, I finally got my Gaming X Trio RTX 3090 and Windows and very old/light titles (Fallout New Vegas level) run as expected. However, much to my dismay the GPU crashes after a very short time in any graphically demanding game (like the ones you'd actually want a 3090 for).

I found the crash always happens once the GPU temp reaches 56 degrees Celsius (as measured by GPU-Z) and is preceded by about two seconds of graphical artefacts.

Before I return the card, any idea what the issue/fix could be?

• Ryzen 5900X, 32GB DDR4, CROSSHAIR VIII HERO, EVGA 850W gold PSU
• Latest Nvidia drivers
• New PC, no overclock on anything (yet)
• CPU temps are minuscule (<40 deg)

I'd RMA that GPU straight away.

What PSU are you running? You need something very decent to run the 3090.

He mentioned the PSU in his post (not sure if he edited it or not...).

Yeah, 100% RMA that GPU like Keith said. That's a defective unit.
