U know the RTX 2060S and 6600 XT are selling around $200 and are able to play any game maxed out at 60fps if you disable the RT gimmick, why spend more? I game since NES, I'm perfectly comfortable playing even at sub 30fps which consoles allways did, and now I can do so at 4K on my OLED with just two hundred bucks. Wake me up when VR gets exciting, RT mature enough, and NPCs are up to date with the latest gpt AI. Maybe a fully moded Elder Scrolls VI with full path tracing and VR support? Man even the likes of Hogwarts Legacy runs maxed out just fine at 1080p with the 8gb lacking here and there, I really see no need to upgrade for a long time. Heck with $600 I can build a whole PC running at 144hz for the kids, this pricing scheme is off the roofs

I know those jokers flew off the shelf at the local Best Buy stores with a quickness. The partner cards are showing inventory update, but the reference is out of stock with no updates for now.

The question I have is how many of those cards did Nvidia make. I haven't seen many founders edition cards available anywhere despite ABI venders being well in stock. The one notable exception being the 4080, but I think most people who even consider a 4080 end up just going with a 4090 given the added performance for "only" 33% more money.

It depends on the card it's replacing. It's expensive yes, but at $599 it's not that much more than what a 2070 Super cost at the start of the pandemic and you get 3080 levels of performance. If you currently have a 1060, 2050/2060, or RX 580, basically the most popular cards on the Steam hardware survey, it's a massive upgrade and justified purchase. If you have a 2070+ or 3070+, it's not.

no, the 2070 super was $450 in 2019... i know because i got mine for around that.

during the pandemic it went back up to msrp and higher, but prior to the pandemic it's price had cratered down into the 400-450 range.

Yes, prior to the pandemic it was below the $500 MSRP, but at the start of the pandemic when prices returned to MSRP due to demand, non reference editions carrying their customary markups were selling for over MSRP, which is what I paid for my 2070 Super XC Ultra Gaming.

not rushing to buy this card like the low power consumption but the even with the price down to 550 pounds on some cards this is a 4060 glass card dressed up as a 4070 the cut down bandwith to 192 bit and the slight memory bump is a bit of a slap in the face the only way id even consider the 4070 if it was at 450. i suspect if sales tank they will release a super version with more vram more cuda

It would suck to have you as a dad, here kids go play with this deflated football I found in the garbage, no need to buy a new one.

Overpriced and under RAM'd.
I feel the amount of VRAM is expected to be lower than high end GPUs. So in this aspect, I cannot really ding Nvidia. After all, we need to remember that this is a mid range card and with the 192bit memory bus, the only other possible VRAM config will be 24GB. Where it starts to fall apart is the pricing. While Nvidia is trying to position this with a RTX 3080 performance, the former is not exactly performing very well in recent game titles. To make things worst, the hardware requirements of upcoming game titles looks too demanding.

Ultimately, I feel the only way Nvidia can convince people to buy this GPU is by lowering price. I actually don’t see any other way. The RTX 4060 Ti and lower GPUs are going to face an uphill battle to convince people to buy them because the 8GB of VRAM is barely making it for 1080p with decent graphic quality settings.
