Nvidia is planning a $50 rebate for AIBs, according to a new report. This should mean that competitive market forces could push the current $599 MSRP cards down towards $549.

They only last long enough to get good initial reviews.

Then they go back to original MSRP.

Nvidia needs to just perma-drop the price by 50 dollars.

I find it more likely that the rebate was so AIBs could meet NVIDIA's MSRP since NVIDIA didn't bother giving a real price when AIBs were designing the cards (see the $700/$750 leak from MLID)
