Hello everyone,

I'm thinking of purchasing one of these two GPUs for my PC build. It will be paired with Intel i7-13700K.

Here's the following link:

2. https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_557_559&item_id=250819

I will be using the GPU for casual gaming, computer programming, and other productivity needs. If there is any other type of GPU you would recommend, feel free to share your opinion.

As for these two GPUs, would you recommend me purchasing the 2 fan over the 3 fan or vice-versa? And, would MSI be a good brand for this GPU as I am not willing to go for ASUS.

PC specifications:

CPU: Intel Core i7-13700K 3.4 GHz 16-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Deepcool AK620 DIGITAL 68.99 CFM CPU Cooler
MB: MSI MAG Z790 TOMAHAWK WIFI ATX LGA1700 Motherboard
RAM: TEAMGROUP T-Force Vulcan 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6400 CL32 Memory
SSD: Western Digital Black SN770 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive
PSU: MSI A1000G PCIE5 1000 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

The slight differences in clock speeds are mostly not worth paying extra for.

Look for GPU length and make sure it can actually fit inside your case

I prefer triple fan GPUs because three fans don't have to work so hard to keep it cool and are therefore less noisy.

This Gigabyte Eagle seems cheaper and just as good as the MSi models: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product...-super-12-gb-video-card-gv-n407seagle-oc-12gd

Look at these prices: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/products/video-card/#sort=price&c=565,566

If you can afford a Super Ti variant you will get more for your money.

For less money, consider an 7900GRE: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product...x-7900-gre-16-gb-video-card-rx7900gre-cl-16go
It's not much slower than a 4070 Super, and extra VRAM.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm trying to stay away from Gigabye and ASUS as I have not had good experience with them before. It would have to be a nvidia card so I'll take a look into Super Ti too but it's very expensive. Most likely, I will just need to save up more and purchase it in the Fall/Winter.

Fair enough. I try to avoid ASUS motherboards because i dislike Armoury Crate. I don't mind Gigabyte's Control Center, but i haven't had any bad experiences with it.

As far as GPUs go, i would consider length of the card as more important, but many people have complained about Gigabyte's customer service being the pits so i don't blame you for looking elsewhere.

Ti Supers are expensive, it's true. The non-Ti Super will do fine. However... if you can wait until Fall/Winter, then do so. The new 50XX series will start coming out and it is expected to be a sizeable improvement over the 40XX series. Prices will change.
Intel will also release their new line up. It will be a good time to buy.

If you want to stay with nvidia then based upon your budget the 4070 super is probably the best choice if you buy today. I recently bought one for 1440p gaming and it has been very good so far. As mentioned though there is a new gen not far away and so it might be worth waiting if you can.

What GPU are you currently using?

I have not used any of the 40 series variants for the MSI cards you listed but I did have a 2070 super version of the dual fan card. Temps were good but under heavy loads you could hear the card. It wasn't crazy loud but you could hear it certainly at the default fan curve. A quick play in afterburner though made this much better without sacrificing temps a great deal. The 4070 super is quite an efficient card and I can barely hear my current one but mine does have a beefier cooler (it is an Asus one though so I won't mention it any further!)

Lol, no it's good to hear both good and bad experiences when it comes to major brands. And minor i guess but the big four are the ones that get the most hate. Usually for good reason.

Yeah its very interesting to see people's experiences differ so drastically. I guess with the amount of products these companies sell then there will always be some vitriol and as mentioned it is often justified.

I have always bought Asus motherboards since my first board nearly 25 years ago and never had a problem so I tend to stick with them. Took the plunge on an Asus GPU for the first time after using MSI for 580 sli, 970 and 2070 super. Not because I had an issue with MSI but more that the aesthetics and reviews were good for the Asus one. This was literally 2 weeks before the big ASUS news came out but never having had an issue previously then I am not too concerned. I also think that the negative exposure will also bode well for the future should you have an issue rather than the other way around.

I have built a lot if PCs for other people though and the brands that I use are often more dictated by a cost / performance ratio than any brand loyalty. I have used gigabyte and MSI motherboards and GPUs primarily just because there is an Asus tax which does not always fit well with more limited budgets.
