Hi all,

I've asked this question in Hardware but this would be more appropriate place.

I am concerned about GPU noise. My 3090 from Asus (Rog Strix) is dead quiet, so I trust this brand, and others praise it too.

The ROG STRIX version of the 4090 has appeared on Amazon but it has a price tag $500+ higher than others: https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-GeForce-Gaming-Graphics-DisplayPort/dp/B0BGT61797/ Any real-world experience if this is a meaningful premium???? How do other versions behave? How quiet they are? Thanks!

Try installing the GPU in another system and see if the problem persists.

This might not be of much help to the OP. The environment(case), whether the user will operate vertical/horizontal gpu, and distance one sits from the object in question matters.
W1zzard does the noise tests on an open bench, and measured from 50cm away. It says that if you click on the Noise Testing Details button.
Why the noise test is not done in a case, which most are going to be using, IDK... and the further you sit away from the case, the quieter fans are going to sound.

Don’t worry about fan noise because all good manufacturers have an overkill cooler. Most of these cards though suffer from crazy coil whine , some manufacturers like Zotac and gigabyte seems to be less effected , the nvidias reference card seems to be 50-50 luck. I have the 4090 tuf oc which is a good card and got it for a fine deal but the coil whine is nothing I heard never before. It’s massive ! Like a buzzsaw or something screaming like crazy even fans at 100% is quieter than this noise. I don’t know what it takes to get an actually quiet card but most of as are stuck to this. The strix version can have massive coil whine too but some people seems to be lucky. The main reason you would want the strix version is the overclock headroom because its massively overbuilt and you can flash even better bios with no fear. But even then they are not binned so you can get unlucky even on that.
