News RTX 5070 appears on Best Buy at MSRP — Asus Prime listed for $549.99 days before official launch

Are we finally getting a GPU in stock and at MSRP on launch date?
Microcenter had listings for RTX 5070Tis at MSRP too, but the existence of a listing didn't translate to more than a token number of cards available at that price.

In fact, the original PNY model my local store had as the only MSRP model was listed as "Out of Stock" before launch when every other card was listed as "Coming Soon", and when Asus got in trouble for doing a bait-and-switch on reviewers and had to lower the price on the non-OC Prime card to MSRP, the PNY card vanished from the system completely.

What will those extra 4 GB give me?

The ability to not rely on nVidia's memory compression technique that may or may not be implemented in games you want to play, as well as to give you a bit more of a cushion for frame storage, ability to use higher detail levels in games which are more VRAM limited than GPU limited, more ability to perform non-gaming tasks such as running LLMs locally, and, of course, value that the "competition" is offering for a "lower" price.

instant skip.

its 2025 and many games now are wanting 16GB Vram already let alone upcoming. 12gb vram is just a skip.

and to those who dont know why 16gb is important: your games use up 8-16 now-a-days and thats JUST game. if you have background tasks/videoes/etc thats also using vram. Once your game needs something not in the vram it is going to be a performance hit and you will notice it.

Well to be fair, this is not a 4k card, so the +16MB vram need isn't really there. For example, Doom Dark Ages, they want 16MB for 4K.

Disagree with that. The 5070 Ti is a capable 4k60 max details card, so the 5070 will be a 4k60+ with DLSS/frame gen in newer games and 4k60+ in older games, though how many extra frames it can generate will be limited by the VRAM.

The Ti sure, but not the vanilla. However, the vanilla will probably work a notch above the 4070 (sold as a 1440 card) and cruise 4K just fine with MFG. But I think if you want 4K the 5070 may not be the best choice.

It isn't hardball if they only have a few nationwide and then have no stock for four months.
I would guess the real competition will be who actually has (non scalper)cards for sale.

I checked BB's website and they had a 5070 Ti in stock (open-box) in my area for $775 and they sold it brand new for around a thousand bucks. I had NO idea what the MSRP was for these cards since my interest lies in the 5080 and that's "IF" I decide to go with Nvidia in my next build. I then checked and MSRP is $700 for the Ti. No thanks, i'll wait for Amazon to get their stock of the 5080 or the 9070 XT Nitro+ this year.

Edit: I went back to look and someone bought it.

It depends on the games. Brand new AAA titles full of ray tracing and unoptimized code of course not, but "older" games and MMOs, for example, are going to be VRAM limited more than GPU limited with the 5070.
