So I was wondering for gaming, what would be the better option, I may return a new laptop that I recently purchased on a great Amazon Prime deal because I received a GMKTec EVO-X1 that has an included Oculink port. I do realize if I were to get an enclosured 4090 or 5090 GPU I'd lose probably around 25-35% performance with that port through the Oculink but I know the 5090 laptop also acts like a 5070 desktop in gaming so I am wondering which exactly would be the better buy and more future proofed (if that's even a thing really).

What do you guys think and as of right now the 5090 laptop is coming to me at the end of the month but I'm liking the mini-pc soo much right now idk which to go with. Any thoughts? GMKTEC EVO-X1 with an attached rtx 4090 or 5090 via Oculink or RTX 5090 HP Omen Max laptop w/ 64gb 2tb ssd. Thanks for any opinions, etc.

I think the mini-pc with RTX 4090 will be better performance with losses up to and maybe a bit over 20% but probably still better then 5090 laptop gpu but either case 5090 laptop will be real good especially with dlss4 frame gen, etc so I'm kind of stuck, don't really need another laptop right now currently running a 2 year old laptop with 3080ti 12900hx cpu works fine for all my work, but just exploring other options. Thanks!

Instead of dealing with a crippled GPU, why not just build a small form factor system with the RTX 4090/RTX5090 without sacrificing on performance but on size...?

I wouldn't spend on anything then.

I already have the mini-pc and keeping it no matter what, even as a back-up device, and for mobility purposes. So I was thinking since my new laptop isn't coming just yet why not upgrade the mini-pc, instead of getting ANOTHER device. I mean I will either get the new laptop it's already ordered and maybe sell my old one or upgrade the mini-pc, so what do we think in this situation.

I don't really want to build another device right now, can we just go with one of the above choices, plus in the future I can use the 4090/5090, but in any case the 5090 laptop will also be great considering dlss/frame gen these days is kind of a cheat code.

So basically GMKTEC EVO-X1 w/ 4090 or 5090 via Oculink and ability to use it in the future with another desktop in the next year or so possibly or I go ahead and just keep my HP Omen Max 16 w/ RTX 5090 that is coming at the end of the month, it has 64GB, 2TB etc.
