[SOLVED] RTX card won't fit in motherboard.

I currently have a GTX 980ti ASUS strix in it, and it has functioned and fit fine for the past 2 years. I recently got the RTX 2080 ASUS strix: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JPD4NZV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1, and it doesn't fit when I try and put it into the pcie express slot. Should I go for the return or am I missing something?

Is there a latch on the end of your x16 slot that's pushed towards the rear of the case? (Locked position)

There's a protective cover on the "pcie fingers",did you take that off?
