[SOLVED] RTX Cards + DVI

I see there is no DVI port. How do I use my 144hz monitor with HDMI if I decide to purchase one of these? I get the feeling you're going to tell me that I can't for some reason.

Dvi is being slowly phased out so it is getting harder for this display type.

What monitor do you have? Some monitors can do 120/144Hz via Hdmi if the manufacturer of the monitor allowed it.

Active DP to DVI DL adapters is possible but unreliable and expensive 100$. Might want to consider upgrading your monitor if Hdmi is a no go.

It has HDMI but it's like 6 years old at this point. I'm not sure if those monitors you linked are different in some way but I'm not spending money on a monitor. I can't go back to gaming at 60 fps....what is the point of buying a gnarly video card like a 2080 and then hampering the performance with an HDMI cable? I'm sure this has to do with ray tracing more than them wanting to phase out DVI. Whatever, I'll just get a 1080 again.

Well those monitors have Displayport which is whats used now instead of DVI. This has been the case for sometime now due to the bandwidth constraints of DVI, this has nothing to do with ray tracing.

Ohh your monitor has Displayport, just use that..

Buy a Club3D Displayport HBR2 or HBR3 cable and you'll be good to go.

A GTX 1080? I wouldn't bother with one of those unless you can find one new for under $400 (in the US), since an RTX 2060 SUPER should be slightly faster for around that price, in addition to having some new hardware features. It's possible to find some 2060 SUPER and 2070 cards with DVI too, if you really need to use that connection...

Just make sure you get a Vesa (makers of Displayport) certified brand of cable. Club3D are a certified brand and i trust them. There are plenty dodgy DP cables out there.

Accell is another good cable brand.

I really just want my ftw 2 back but EVGA RMA policy is to send me a refurbished one which I refuse to put into my PC. It's just asking for trouble. I also see that not all display ports are the same. I'm pretty sure mine is just the first version. Newer monitors say 1.2, 1.3 etc.

If i'm getting a 20xx It's going to be a 2080 something for sure. Not Ti because i'm not ballin'

Displayport versions doesn't matter, theyre backwards compatible. Im running an 1080Ti Displayport 1.4 with my Displayport 1.2 monitor at 1440p 144Hz.

You'll have no problems using DP.

Another bonus is Displayport like Hdmi also carries audio - if you ever wanted to use your monitor's speakers.
