I bought a 5700xt and got nothing but BSOD , it worked drivers loaded even gamed on it but was lucky to get 5-10 mins in before I got the infamous BSOD.

I was thinking of upgrading my gtx 1060 6gb to a RTX 2070/2080 Super instead.

Do you think there would be any bottle-necking or performance issues with my current system ?

CURRENT PC SPECS:

MB: Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3

CPU: AMD FX-8350 Black Edition 8 Core 4.0GHZ

RAM: 32GB DDR3 1600MHZ
(IK IK OLD N SLOW) best I could do with the $ I had at the time

SSD: 1TB Samsung EVO PRO SSD

GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1060 6gb

PSU: XFX PRO 850 W Gold Certified

Monitor: ZOWIE BenQ 240hz 27" E-Sport Series

Internet: Gigabit Fiber

I just don't want the same issues and tie up more money for weeks to RMA another card

Frankly, I don't even think his CPU is enough for a GTX 1060.

OP, I think you should just stick with ur current card until u are able to upgrade ur mobo and CPU...

I appreciate it, I get decent FPS all things considered for it being a 1060 6gb , I was just trying to take the cheapest way out of upgrading. Regardless the FX has served it's purpose for the better part of a decade.

Well folks, I was looking for some honest feedback about supporting a new card in my older system, rather I got doubts about my current PC builds ability to even support 1080...

I will let the stats speak for themselves

COD MW - HIGH WITH SHADOWS ON LOW 45-75 FPS
APEX - 80+ FPS
FARCRY 5 - 65+ FPS ON HIGH
WITCHER 3 - HAIRWORKS OFF 55 FPS

What GPU did you end up with?

These benchmarks are at 1440p so that's going to be more demanding than 1080p. The CPU used was an i7-8086K.

So you're getting about half of the full potential of a RTX2070 Super (running those games at 1440p ULTRA settings)

AFAIK, the Unigine Heaven benchmark is almost completely GPU-limited, meaning you'll get the same score regardless of what CPU you have. So that's not a good argument.

For reference, a non-CPU-limited (this time on a i9-9900K) GTX1650 Super can get the same FPS you're getting AT 1/3 THE COST OF A 2070 SUPER.

Which is what people were saying, that’s pretty terrible if you have a 240Hz monitor. Unfortunately after a certain point the cpu determines the best possible FPS you can achieve regardless of gpu choice.
