Nvidia will have to make some extreme price adjustments on the Titan and 780 (and likely the rest of their upcoming lineup) if this leak is accurate. But that's a big 'if'. It's not difficult to pick out some peculiarities in the 'leaked' specs, such as the 5GB of GDDR5 over a 256-bit interface on the HD8950. While this is possible in theory, there's practically no reason to do it in this context. I imagine 4GB would already be more than sufficient for any gaming load out there.

if the performance rumor is true, the 8970 will go toe to toe with the titan. if the price is also true, then the price on the titan will be less stratopheric, come down to earth and bring down the price of the gtx 700 series with it.

Nvidia and AMD have been playing us for years with their graphic cards war and the reason for that is our stupidity, They have a technology of 10 years from now and they can implement it now with no issues but they won't because they want to drain our money every year! Nvidia and AMD go to hell !!!!

This looks very rumor-ish and pretty much a fantasy. If it is true though, those are some very reasonable prices for the performance and would cut into Nvidia's market quite nicely.

well, true or not, I try browse AMD site via Wikipedia, and found that all HD8XXX series is targeted for OEM Desktop manufacture... so looks like that HD8XXX is available for OEM build only... so we only can say that to get HD8XXX cards, we must buy ASUS ROG desktop build, for example...
and if there release as not OEM parts, well we just wait and see if these rumor true or not... but stated on AMD Site, seems HD8XXX is only for OEM manufacture....

the 8xxx series that you see on wiki is just a refresh of the 7xxx series... they just re-branded them 8xxx so the OEMs could claim they have top of the line cards.

there is no new 8xxx series. AMD is skipping it and going straight to the 9xxx series in the fall.

Either way, We already know that core for core!, Nvidia wins! Memory bandwidth is what kill the 600 series! We have already seen that happen with the GTX 650 Ti to the GTX 650 Ti boost! Really all Nvidia had to do with the NEW generation was open that up a bit to 384-bit to defeat any AMD card! But they went a step further with 'Titan' in adding twice the stream processors as a GTX 670! Unless AMD moves down to 20nm, Nvidia has already won! Just look at the GTX 780!

Nowhere did AMD ever say they were skipping the HD8000 series nor did they say it was exclussive to OEM rebrands or iGPU solution brandings, if so I was not directly told about this from my AMD liaison. This makes perfect sense as the HD7000 family literally has Nvidia by the balls in every department but drivers (which I hear we are to expect drastic improvements very soon) Nvidia basically abandoning the GTX600 family to go to GTX700 under the pretense that they believed they could undercut AMD sales on what was believed to be a Volcanic Islands release, what this does now is level the field and put more pressure on Nvidia. 35% faster than a HD7970 while I don't agree with that number I will agree on 20-25% but hypothetically if the HD8970 was 35% faster then not only does it crush the Titan, it crushes the GTX780 by a fair margin, at 20-25% I will say its about on par with the 780/Titan or slightly faster.
I am confused as to why so late if we believe that Sea Islands is out early next year.

That does not imply they will not be making a discrete line based on Sea Islands, that is just listing AMD product line and yes at present the HD8000 is essentially rebranded HD7000 parts, but I stress again AMD have not said anything about not releasing Sea Islands.

Splendid

The Titan is so overrated look here http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_GTX_780/26.html
Now the Titan is only 24% faster and than the 7970 Ghz edition now and the 780 is only 17% faster. Its quite possible for Amd to take that down or at least meet that.

The Titan varies from 10%-25% faster depending on the test circumstances so the aggragate is around 15-20% faster while the 780 at times is only marginally faster than the 7970 to as high as 22% but the aggragate is around 15% as well so it is possible that on the same node AMD will achieve 20-25% at least and that would place it on par with Nvidia's top offerings, 35% seems a stretch to me.

fake as hell and not worth the bandwidth to host such stupid rumors. 5gb on 256bit bus for amd. 8950 not being cut from 8970. Wildly stupid performance numbers and pricing. Lastly GCN 2.0 isn't even a thing. Sea Island is all there is right now and theres nothing 2.0 about it.

I hope AMD prices the 8K series super aggressively. I'm definitely considering going AMD for the next upgrade, because Nvidia are just starting to get too expensive for my tastes.

honestly i'm tired with amd rumors about their suppose cards for consumer 8k series. first i heard 2500sp parts for 8970, then 4000sp and now 2300sp. lets talk more when the actual hardware officially comes out.
