I'm running a server and having programs running in the background as service without getting interrupted when logging off is VERY important to me. Does anybody know how to choose/make a program under Windows 2000 to run as service instead of a foreground application, if the application did not have "run as service" as an option in the configuration?

I am also curious about this sort of thing here is what I found, but it pertains to Windows NT. It may work....

I believe there is a utility in the resource kit that allows you to run anything as a service.

You could always just hack the registry and do it :) Weeee!

Easy!! (not)

Just goto HKLM\System\currentcontrolset\services.

Add yourself a key and start populating it. Use some of the other services as a template.
