Hi

Not sure if this belongs on here or the gpu section

Basically, my 2070 Super died & while I'm trying to RMA it I've borrowed a (very) old gtx 570 from a friend to play csgo
The gtx 570 only has a displayport 1.1 connection, I have a 1440p 165hz monitor, dp 1.1 can only run 1440p 85hz or 1080 144hz
Is it possible to increase the refresh rate by creating a custom res in Nvidia Control Panel? I created a custom res of 1080p 144hz but it doesn't seem to work. Do I also need to change the timings in Control Panel for it to be effective?

Solution
570 with DP?

I wasn't sure if the 570 drivers would even allow 144Hz. And looking at these people replying it doesn't seem like you are even going to hit 60+ most of the time. You might have some odd 570 with a DP, but it wasn't common back then. Are you sure it's a DP 1.1 and not an HDMI port? You need DVI to get faster Hz, not HDMI.

Personally I'm thinking if this is a sub card while waiting for your main to get fixed, just limp along. Set it for the best you can and do what you can. Don't waste your time trying to get perfect from old temp tech.

Set the timing to CVT Reduced Blank.

You will also need to set the scaling mode to Display. If the monitor has a G-Sync module then this won't be possible since the G-Sync module doesn't support display scaling over DP.

The version I have most definitely has a displayport, it has 2dvi 1 dp and 1 hdmi

I get where you're coming from about waiting, but I'll be waiting a couple.of.weeks minimum and cs is the only game where fps/hz really matters to me
