I'm planning on picking up a 27" 1440p 144hz ips panel alongside a 24" 1080p 60hz IPS one. Both monitors will be used for work tasks only, whereas for gaming only the 1440p will be used.

Question: Having different resolutions and refresh rates, would this affect the eyes? Any reported/experienced issues I should be aware of? Any recommendations?

Solution
It shouldn't cause any major issues. I use a similar setup and there are two things that stand out. The color differences between monitors is usually very noticeable. I've tried my best to match my secondary to the main but it is still off enough that it is obviously different.

The second is the higher refresh rate is noticeable when moving windows across screens. But no it shouldn't cause eye strain or anything like that. The higher refresh rate just makes everything smoother when moving objects around.

ed: not sure what graphics card you will be using but there is a bug in the Nvidia drivers that gets fixed every once in a while but regresses on the next driver release. It is when using a multi-monitor setup and one of the monitors...

It is when using a multi-monitor setup and one of the monitors is set to 144hz the graphics card will not downclock to idle while sitting on the desktop. If power use is a concern, I recommend setting it to 120hz to avoid this issue from appearing. All assuming you are using a Nvidia graphics card. It may not even affect you if you are not using a current gen card but it is something that you may want to know.

Solution

I'm getting the EVGA 1080ti SC black edition card. Also I only plan on using the dual display set up for work purposes only. 120hz would be fine as I only intend to play battlefield 1 and gta5 in ultra settings for which the reported benchmarks are under 120 fps (1440p).

Hope you dont mind me dropping in another question - dont wanna ruin the souls 3 lol

I already have a 32" tele which I am wanting to add as the third display. The tele will be mounted on the wall to the side, only displaying our office/home security cameras. If the tele and live feed is running whilst playing game, would this have a big effect on fps or any aspect of gaming performance? Another concern is the internet bandwidth, not sure how much it will affect those FPS multiplayer sessions. I guess thats something I'll have to determine myself through trial and error.
