Question Running 4K monitor on lower settings.

Ok so I own a 4K monitor. I’m in the process of upgrading my pc so that I can run games at 4K 60+ FPS on high-ultra settings. Currently my pc does ok at medium settings on 4K but I’m sick of looking at some games with muddy textures. I was wondering will it damage my GPU if I go into my display settings on my pc and run the monitor at 1440p instead? Someone told me that it would and googling the question doesn’t get me any answers.

No, it absolutely will not damage anything.

The only things you have to decide are:
Do I want the monitor or graphics card to do the scaling?
Can I live with the desktop blurriness inherent in non-native resolutions?
Do I just want to set that as my resolution in the game settings instead?
