Ok so basically i have a pre built PC (Asus k31ADE) that i use mainly for university work, but im a little confused. The stats of the pc are as follows:

core i3 4170 CPU
8gb RAM
2tb 7200 rpm HDD
gt 710 1gb GPU
external 120w PSU

According to nvidia's website, the gt 710 requires a minimum 300w psu to run but works perfectly well in my system, even when overclocked 1200mhz on both the core and memory clock. So im wondering if i could upgrade to a gt 1030 on the current psu. As it is external and uses a non standard connection to the motherboard, there's no opportunity to upgrade or change the psu at all. The gt 710 is rated to use 19w of power and the gt 1030 to use 30w of power but i regularly overclock my gt 710 so it must be drawing more power right?

Thanks in advance.

Yeah my bad its kind of like a large, external power brick with a small power connector into the back of the motherboard.

I wouldn't try it most power brick pc's have almost no headroom left. From what I gathered on the internet upgrading that thing is a no go. A ocd 710 won't consume a lot more power as it's fairly limited.

Yes you can update it just fine, I have a power adapter of only 90w and I have a GTX 750 Ti and it works so far. (It's been more than a year since I upgraded my asus K31ADE).
