running a mobile cpu on a desktop motherboard

Hello there.

I have my hands on an old Sempron Mobile 3000+ which is a mobile socket 745 CPU and I was wondering if it could run on a desktop motherboard.

Any help would be appretiated. Thanks

It "might" work but it'll be drastically slower than a similar desktop part. Which almost certain could be purchased cheaply

As long as it fits into the socket on your motherboard, it should work. It won't perform as well as a desktop part, but the hits that Supahos is describing are a bit overly pessimistic.

Also highly unlikely the bios natively supports the cpu... As I've never seen Mobile CPUs listed
