Running a monitor above it's default resolution?

I watched a YouTube video of how to basically clock your monitor at a hgher Hz and resolution than it allows by using the Nvidia control panel and I successfully got my TV to 2560x1440 with 70Hz when it's highest is 1920x1080 at 60Hz.

Will this reduce it's life span or mess up my LED lights?

I'm sry , your screen is NOT showing 2560x1440 70 hz it is downscaling it to 1920x1080 60hz wathever someone else says or pretends.

No, its showing 70hz my TV itself says 70hz and textures are sharper... I can also fit more on the screen. And have no more need for MSAA.
