It's time to upgrade my GPU and as I have Crysis 3 in my library, I want to get a card that will run it. I'm on a tight budget but I've seen a GT 730 2Gb GDDR5 that's well affordable at £55 ($90). However, I've seen info that says you need more than 2Gb to run Crysis 3, but I think that may be if you have multi monitors, super resolution and at ultra hi specs.
I've got an ASRock B85M Pro4 Mobo, Intel core i3-4130 CPU, 8Gb of G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 RAM, W 7 64bit OS and HDD's for OS and games library. I use an LCD TV as my monitor, with 1360 x 768 resolution and I guess I'm on 720p format due to using the VGA socket at present, though I'm thinking to try 1080p as the TV has HDMI sockets.
I think that the GT 730 will run Crysis 3 on medium/high settings if I stick with 720p, but if I move up to 1080p I suspect it might only run it on low settings.
Does anyone know how well a GT 730 of the above spec will play Crysis 3?
Does anyone have any suggestions for an alternative GPU?
Thanks :)

Solution
First of all its 2GB DDR3 and not DDR5 and no you will not play crysis 3 with that.

The best GPU for this budget is this one at £65 and its the first DDR5 card you can find in this budget (1GB)

Sorry R7 250 1GB DDR5 cost £52

But if you wanna play Crysis 3 in ultra in this resolution u must take something like this

The gt 730 is really bad for gaming, the only thing i saw about it was running crysis 3 on medium settings @ 1080p and it gave around 11 average fps which is not playable at all. Even on low and your resolution you won't be satisfied and it won't be playable. I recommend you save more and get a gtx 750 which is just around 20-30$ more than your budget. It can run most games on low to high settings on a very playable fps.

Thanx for the input guys, all good stuff. I suspect there may be a weird thing about the card I've been looking at which I found here http://www.cclonline.com/product/153776/ZT-71101-10L/Graphics-Cards/ZOTAC-GeForce-GT-730-2GB-Graphics-Card-PCI-E-DVI-HDMI-VGA/VGA2520/
According to the spec's it looks like an incredible card for the money, maybe too good to be true. I've sent an e-mail to CCL, asking for confirmation of the spec's.
I've had a quick look at the GTX 750 2Gb GDDR5 card, and it's within my budget and looks like a great card, so thanks. Meanwhile I'm still looking and researching, so keep the suggestions coming. :)
Update; I've done a load more research since and I now know this card is no good to me. I'm now choosing betwen two cards but will start a new post for input on that. Thanks all. :)

Um...yeah, I kind of have proof that says otherwise about the whole DDR3 vs GDDR5 spiel with the GT 730. I know this message is a little over a month old now, but I just want to clarify that there IS, in fact, a GDDR5 version of the GT 730, seeing as though I actually HAVE one (AND it actually cost LESS than $90 on Amazon, if you can believe that). Ordered it 10/15, and it got here five days later, and although it's 64-bit, it still kicks ass and is basically exactly what OP is describing (2GB GDDR5). Seriously, I went from playing Crysis 2 on High (Low) settings at 1024x768 at ~20-30 fps on my previous card, a GT 610 1GB DDR3, to playing it on the same settings at ~60-70 fps on my GT 730. Even at 1280x1024 on Extreme (High) settings, it still gets nearly 60 fps. So, I don't know why you're so harsh on this card, man. It has pretty good bang for the buck.

Thanks deafghost, better late than never they say. I'm glad you chipped in, as I thought I had lost the plot when people told me I was wrong about that card. Happy to hear you're getting good service out of the same. In the end I found a Sapphire R9 270X on sale price that I couldn't pass up, even tho it stretched my budget. Glad I got it tho, coz it plays Crysis 3 and Battlefield 4 without even breaking a sweat. :)

There is GT730 2G DDR5 card, its really not bat, I just bought one.

I hate when ppl think they know everything, discarding the possibility of DDR5 on such a card right away.
