Running Dual Monitors with different outputs. Possible?

I have an XFX 7870 HD and, being new to the pc enthusiast realm, I'm wondering if it's possible to run dual monitors with different outputs? I currently have a 19" 720p TV that I'm using via HDMI cable, but I'll be getting a 27" 1080p monitor in about 2 weeks and I was wondering if it's possible to run the TV with an HDMI and the new monitor with DVI or display port?

The card only has one HDMI output, 2 mini displayports, and 2 DVI ports.

I'm just not familiar with how this works. lol Do I need to change settings or is it just a plug-and-play type situation?

yes you can connect the new monitor to the DVi connection, and the system should recognize a new monitor. You can then go into display settings and configure what is on both monitors.
