Hi there,

I recently installed a copy of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit on my MacBook Air via BootCamp. Once the installation was complete, I installed the BootCamp Support Software drivers. After the installation completed, I installed Fallout 3 and all of it's DLC. When I attempted to run the game I was give the error "Failed to initialize renderer". I Googled for a fix and found two different ones:

(I'm using Fallout Mod Manager's fake xLive.dll because it was coming up with an error about not being able to find it, I assume this does not have anything to do with the following errors)

The first fix involved fooling the game into thinking I had a card which supported Fallout 3. I had to copy a file called d3d9.dll into the main path of the game. Unfotunately, I was still given the error of "Failed to initialize renderer" when running it under windowed mode, I got the error "Failed to initialize renderer, windowed mode not supported by this adapter"

The second fix involved editing the Fallout configuration file under in My Documents\My Games\Fallout3. I changed bUseThreadedAI=0 (under the General section of the ini) to bUseThreadedAI=1. I then added the line iNumHWThreads=2 below the other. Again, I get the same error of "Failed to initialize renderer".

Here is another link to a fix similar to both of those , I believe I have already tried it.:

I've tried both fixes individually and together, without any actual results. According to some members of various forums, they have gotten at least one of these fixes to work...

My specs:
CPU: Intel i5 3427U
GPU: Intel HD Graphics 4000
RAM: 4GB

I am aware that you are able to get Fallout running on this card, I'm just not sure how.

Thanks for anyone who helps :)

(EDIT: I have just update my drivers)
(EDIT 2: I've got DirectX, .Net 4.5 and C++ Redist. installed, so they should not be a problem)
(EDIT 3: Just tried a fresh install with all of the DLC, still no cigar!)

I've tried a reinstall a few times, but I don't think I'll get the steam version, my internet only has 500MB a day for downloads, so I don't think it would be the best idea, but thanks for the super quick reply :)

Well, according to many members of other forums, they have managed to get it working.... I don't know if it's just me, or if some other people are having this same problem and just haven't said anything about it...
