Just curious if having both running alongside each other is okay or even optimal or would they conflict ?

Unless i'm Mistaken the Kapersky Antivirus real time protection is more for Viruses ? and having Malware Bytes running with real time protection would serve me better for any possible malware attacks ?

Also for anyone that does run both any suggestions in what Real-time protection features to enable on each while working together ? I've read someone suggest to disable Ransomware protection on Malwarebytes ?.

Thanks

I would not run either product.

You might actually have three products (Kapersky, Malware Bytes, and Windows Defender) all running at the same time.

Likely a performance hit at best. They could start flagging each other's actions as "bad" - who knows.....

The built in Windows Defender/Security Package is more than sufficient for AV protection, etc..

My suggestion: uninstall Kapersky and Malware Bytes. Use Windows Security for protection.

I had previously been just running Microsoft defender with no issues for years but just a month ago had managed to get a nasty malware infection, of course this was likely due to myself being extremely complacent and it wasn't until I had an issue with Fraud that the penny dropped and upon installing other software things got picked up.

Nothing had been picked up when running the Microsoft defender on it own, and had I not known about the fraud that had taken place it would have still continued to run amok on my PC.

This was my reason for upgrading my security.

Just out of curiosity what malware and fraud did you encounter? (No need for any personal information.)

And some folks do run Windows Defender/Security 24/7 but also occassionally run other AV software "on demand" from time to time as a bit of extra protection. Versus having that second AV also running 24/7.

I believe the culprit to have been due to dodgy software which i've never had any issue with in the past, as for the fraud I was lucky it was only a very small amount but it was crypto based and they had somehow managed to change to the receiving wallet address different from the actual wallet address it should have been on my screen.

Basically when I logged into a crypto exchange in order to send a very small amount, the address that was appearing on my screen for it to be deposited wasn't an address the crypto exchange recognized.

I confirmed this to be the case when I logged into the exchange on my mobile phone and the address was completely different from the one that was appearing on my PC browser screen.

Lesson learnt, which is strange as it's not the first... program i've installed by the same means but was the first time it ever led to anything like this.

When I performed a scan with Malware bytes there was Backdoor malware among another others.

The tell beyond the actual Crypto issues was programs installed that I hadn't installed running in task manager but not installed in program files like normal.... Utorrent.exe etc.

I've been running Kaspersky and Malwarebytes together since W7 on my old 775 box. After I built my new one I had my (ex-hack) now IT buddy run his bag of bad boy using the new Defender vs my old solution because respected folks here suggested Defender was better. Well it is much better now, but not nearly as good as KS/MAL (premium/paid). Search my post for the results.

Again thanks to all that helped me with my i9KS/Z690 build. 👍
