Running lower fps than refresh rate

Hi,
I have seen this question asked multiple times in multiple forums but I haven't seen a straightforward answer
If i run a game at anywhere between 10-140 fps on a 144 hz monitor, will I have any issues?


The reason I ask is because I currently run csgo on my fx-8350 gtx 970 setup with about 220 fps and I get screen tearing, so i am considering upgrading monitor and i want to know if it would be bad for other games (like witcher 3) which i run somewhere around 60 fps.

and I do know about v-sync, I don't like using v-sync for csgo because I get input lag.

Issues at 10 FPS, is that a joke? You'll get a headache in no time. Obviously the more frames you can display, the smoother the motion.

If you're getting 220 FPS on a 144 Hz monitor, and you see screen tearing, the monitor is defective.

If you get 220 FPS on a 60 Hz panel, then you'll see screen tearing. The more FPS above that, the more frequent the screen tearing.

If you run a game at 60 FPS on a 144 Hz monitor, you will not benefit from being able to display more frames every second. You will however benefit from faster pixel times, meaning less blur on a 60 FPS 144 Hz, than 60 FPS 60 Hz monitor.

So as you describe it, besides the higher cost, a 144hz monitor is better than a 60hz monitor in pretty much everyway. Yeah you answered my question. Thanks a bunch.
