Hello I’m currently playing call of duty war zone running normal settings and getting frame drops to 30 FPS.
my specs are
I5-6600k 4 cores
Memory: 16gb ddr4 3200mhz
Graphics: GeForce Gtx 1070 8gb
PSU: PSU 800 and 80 plus bronze watts
Is there a reason for this? Do I have to upgrade anything on my pc. Any information would gladly be helpful. Thanks

Solution
No. I addressed this earlier, but 9th gen is for the LGA 1151 V2 platform.
Without changing your mobo, your options are LGA 1151 cpus, 6xxx and 7xxx.

Simply not enough cpu threads.
That's also whether or not anything else is running alongside the game.

-Ryzen 3600
-1600(YD1600BB[AF]BOX, not YD1600BB[AE]BOX)
-2600
-3700X, if you want to stream the game, I guess.
-9900K, if money is no object.

There's a guy thats locally selling an i7 7800x brand new, would that work or no?

Well, I guess you could look for a 2nd hand i7-6700 or 7700, as those would be compatible with your current motherboard, but I wouldn't pay more than like, 70USD for it.

A swap to Ryzen would require a new mobo.

No.
Your current platform socket is LGA 1151.
i7-7800X is LGA 2066.
Intel's 8th and 9th gen are LGA 1151 V2 - just throwing that out there ahead of time if you happen to notice them as well.

So my only best option is the i9
