Does anyone have any advice on running old software on a modern machine? I'm looking to run X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter, TIE Fighter, and X-Wing. I believe X-Wing was DOS based. TIE Fighter might have been as well. X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter was windows based.

My Specs
Windows 7 Home 64-Bit
Intel i5 3570K @ 4.2Ghz
8GB PC1600 RAM
HIS IceQ Turbo 3GB 7950

Use DosBox, I am not the most experienced with it, the website has pretty good instructions I just have not looked into it too much, but DosBox is likely what you want, at least for anything Dos based: http://www.dosbox.com/

You may be able to use Compatibility mode for other programs, my recommendation would be to do a search on the specific game, there will be other users out there who have figured out how to get it working on a modern OS.
