Hi,

I upgraded to a SSD (128 GB Crucial M4), however my old sata disk is not visible as a boot option or even when i try to hot swap with the system running on the ssd. It also doesnt appear otherwise in the list of connected drives on the system.

I have data on the old hard disk including a running OS (same as that on the SSD), however I can format if need be.

Is there any way I can run my OS on the SSD while using the old hard disk for mundane storage?

My other config is in my signature

The problem is that it is not showing up in the BIOS, when i plug in the SSD.

The only way I can get it to be recognised in the BIOS is by unplugging the SSD from the motherboard and the PSU. If I do that the hard disk is visible in the BIOS, and I can run windows off it also.

They were earlier. Have shifted the hard disk for the moment to sata 2.4. It became visible on the bios.

Thanks for the help man. The article u referenced was very helpful.

Cheers.
