Running Unsupported Games In Windows XP

I've found someone on the Battle.net forums asking about running Overwatch on his Windows XP Laptop (https://eu.battle.net/forums/en/overwatch/topic/17612332752?page=1#post-5). At the bottom, someone suggesting writing a code to mask XP as 7. Is this possible?

It has been done exactly as you described in Windows 2000. There could be something like this, if people put effort into it.

There's a far smaller architecture difference between XP and W2000, than between XP and Win 7.
