Are you in a home network or a school or other shared network? If in a home network (where no login is required and MAC filtering is not a problem), get a cheap router to act as a WIFI access point. PCs don't make good WIFI routers...

Is that because you HAVE to login from your PC to get the ethernet cable to work? Is it because you had to register your MAC address for your PC? If not, then a router as a WIFI source would work.

As Kanewolf said, a router would be the way to go. Clone the mac address of your PC in the router, and put the router between you existing connection and your PC. Sometimes you don't have to clone, simply power cycle the router. But if you want to use windows as an access point, there are several articles you can google, new and old depending on the age of your operating system. https://www.online-tech-tips.com/cool-websites/home-computer-router/
