I'm looking forward to Gears Of War 4 and really want to be able to play it when it comes out. My issue is though I really don't want to upgrade to Windows 10 as i prefer 8.1 and honestly Gears Of War is the only thing that makes want to use it.

So my question is could Install and run Windows 10 on a separate drive like a SSD/HDD or maybe even a USB just to play Gears? I'd hope i could run it completely separate from my main setup without any issues. I'd appreciate any information on if this would work and the easiest way to go about it.

Yes you can, it's specially easy on separate (internal) drive, you need full license of course. Just install W10 on separate disk with W8 disk disconnected until installation finished.
