When I am creating the partition to run windows on my imac it asks how much space from my hard drive i would like to designate to windows....... can i change this figure once I have installed it? Thanks

After you have created the partition through boot camp. You cannot change the size of the partition.
If you want to change the size after the partition, the only way is to format and restore partition, then start the boot camp partitioning process again

If you are using boot camp no if you are using VMware Fusion then yes.. In VM ware the partition will grow with you no need to make it bigger. Or at least it is an option to use expanding volume not sure if it is always turned on.
