Recently I have decided to build a new computer. The focus on this build is real nice fast computer, which everyone wants. I will be using this computer for web surfing and a bit of gaming. I really want the computer to be fast on the web and be able to support 1080 gaming. I was wondering what motherboard I should get. I have heard about Gigabyte's H97 series but I am not sure which one to get. I recently bought the ASUS VS278Q-P Ultrafast 1ms 27-Inch LED-Lit Monitor and NZXT H440 mid tower case and an Intel Core i7-4790 Processor. I am going to go to my local computer shop and hopefully pick one out today. Any help is good help!

Thanks!

I'd go for Z97 chipset, even if You don't plan to OC. Why not 4790K? It's nearly the same price. And I'd get some motherboard from EVGA or Asus, I'd avoid GA. Or MSi if You like the brand.

For Asus, if You want to go "value" path, get Sabertooth Mark 1, if You want to go the "normal" path, get Asus Maximus VII Ranger, if You want to hit the jewels, get Maximus VII Formula. I'm running her and she's okay :)...and of course anything in between.

How does the Maximus vII formula do with web surfing and things of that nature?

I took a look at the Hero. I am not a computer wiz like the rest of you so please bare with me. If I get the Hero I really want it to be fast while surfing the internet and be able to play games at 1080p. I noticed that it says republic of gamers and am afraid that it may not suit me for what I want. I really want my new computer to look slick if that makes sense. Thanks a lot guys!

Thank you for that information. I am now thinking about going with the asus Maximus vII Hero. Any thoughts?

cpcopp95 -
fast on the web and be able to support 1080 gaming
though, it's overkill for "middle class" gaming.

Hero is good, I wrote one thingie:

That includes Hero :)...

Ok. I think that I am definitely going to buy the ASUS MAXIMUS VII HERO LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard, unless someone else has something else in mind. Thanks a lot guys!

One more question to Tradesman1. Why the hell is my Asus VII Formula so expensive, and Hero so cheap? They pack nearly the same features, real-life usage-wise :\ I mean it seriously, this question. I can't believe that stupid hybrid block would cost extra 150 euro...

Tradesman1 - when I run the 4 way raid0, and two raid1, I fill up all 8 ports, and need another for extra drives [raid array is scratch disk for CS/CC [creative cloud/creative suite] and some other programs, raid1 is for work - storage, raid1 second is storage for documents/photos/music/etc. other drives are for temporary things], so the more the merrier. But I see Your point. Thank You once again.
