I now that the rx 460 is a card that does not need a pci express power connector, but can I run 2 of them in crossfire (the gigabyte 2gb edition). I've looked on YouTube and some forums but I haven't seen this question at all. Thanks in advance.

Solution
If the concern is not having any PCIe power connectors, then you aren't going to want to plug two cards into a computer with that power supply, or any of the alternatives.

You should limit yourself to a single RX460 if you aren't going to replace the power supply.

Yeah but I would only be spending 240 or so on the rx 460's vs like 500 on the 1070

You do realize he is asking about a $110 GPU, 2 of which would be about $220, vs $400 for a 1070.

OP The RX 460 will run in crossfire, however Spending $220 on 2 of them at 2gb is a waste. For that amount you can spend a little more and get an RX 480 with 8gb (or about the same and get an RX 480 4gb if you can find one) and run any game well. The RX 460's will be limited by 2gb of memory and that not every game supports crossfire.

IMO Crossfire and SLI should be limited to those who want to do an extreme build with high end cards that want to go faster. With lower end cards its just not worth it.

I missed the power connection thing.

If your PSU does not have the connectors its likely a piece of junk, buy a new one and get an RX 470 or RX 480, its FAR better than getting 2 RX 460.

If your PSU doesn't have PCIe power connectors because you have like an HP or a Dell with a stock PSU they likely do not support crossfire anyway, so you still couldn't do this even if you wanted to.

This right here. Xfire and SLI will eventually be phased out. New game engines (Unreal amongst them) won't support SLI. And many games will be based upon that engine. Nvidia's new cards 1070 n 1080 only support 2x SLI while the 1060 don't support SLI at all. Take it as a sign, don't buy cards based on SLI / xfire performance. Buy a single 470 or 480 or if you can afford and is looking at a 2k / 4k screen go for the bigger Nvidia brothers.
