RX 460 in VGA monitor ?

Hey guys I bought a new pc recently which has a Saphire RX 460 4GB but alas I can't use it =( My old monitor has only vga port so I can't connect it as it only has HDMI and A DVI-D port.Some of my friends said DVI-D to VGA converters doesn't work. Is that true ? what do I do now ?

Yeah DVI-D wont work to convert to VGA becuase the extra 4 pins carry the analog signal for vga. HDMI wont work either because it is digital only. I would see if there are 460s that have DVI-I or VGA, and return your card if you can and get a new one, or upgrade your monitor.

use a active adaptor look at dvi-d / hdmi/display port to vga ''active '' adaptors [reason why I went with a 900 card from NVidia still had native analog support on the card with dvi-I for use with my older crt monitors

I have a Dell 1505FP 15_ Flat Panel LCD Monitor ( Support DVI - D 24 Pin Digital DVI )

Will using HDMI Cable + hdmi to dvi adapter work or should i just buy a DVI - D cable ?
