Spec:
OS: Win 10 Pro 64bit
MB : AsRock N68-GS4 FX
CPU : AMD FX 4320
HDD : Toshiba 500gb
RAM : 8gb 1600mhz
GPU : AMD RX 460 2gb ddr5 oc
PSU : LC POWER LC500h-12 500w
Thanks in advance
I have a 4Gb version of Gigabyte RX460 in my girlfriends PC. MB is horribly dated M5A78L-M LX3, FX-8320e CPU, some old 500w PSU (powerman or something like that). Had random black screens and driver crashes as well. Looks like i've got some workaround, at least for this PC:
- I uninstalled drivers using DDU
- Installed 17.4.3 drivers without AMD Settings/Wattman
- Downclocked GPU to 1000mhz using MSI afterburner
Not a single driver crash for a month now and my gf can finally play competitive overwatch.
It may work with other driver version as well. Maybe even with AMD Settings installed but Wattman deactivated. Downclocking card to 900 mhz in Wattman (and even playing with powerlimit) still crashed drivers while 1ghz via afterburner is stable.
Probably your problem is bad compatibility of PCIe3.0 8x RX 460 with your PCIe2.0 old board (it happened to many people, power delivery issues), also looks like Wattman brings some issues too. Give afterburner a try.
