My question is very simple as mentioned in the title, is the reference RX 470 design will be worth it to buy? I am concerned about the thermals of the stock reference cooling, Will it last long for continuous 5+ years of gaming? I do not plan on upgrading anywhere near 5 years, since i always have financial issue lol. MY MAIN question is: IS THE REFERENCE CARD WILL BE A SOLID CARD? IN TERMS OF THERMALS AND RELIABILITY? i don't really wanna spend my preciously gathered money on a low end cheap stock reference card. So please can anyone shed some light on this? If there is a risk in reference card i will wait a few days more, BUT if the reference card is a good choice i will be the first one to order it!

Some Other Notes: Because i dont really want to wait more for the custom design RX 470 to hit the markets in the late August! I have my mind settled up on the RX 470. Already got 200$ saved in backup as i saw that it will be probably priced from 150$-200$. I dont really want to wait anymore since i am still rocking a XFX 6790 1GB card LOL. Finally have time and money to replace the GPU with a new one. Have a decent 525w PSU as well so no worries on PSU. Have an i7 3770 paired with 8gb of ddr3 ram. Thanks in advance!

Well, a couple of thoughts. The reference designs are fine- if your case has fairly decent airflow and IF you don't plan to overclock it. Based on the 1070's release, custom (or "AIB") cards were released literally within 10 days if the reference card's release. If you really think you won't be able to upgrade for 5+ years (which is ridiculous- save just $2 a WEEK and you'd have $200 in 2 years), then it would be wise to be patient for a whopping 2 more weeks and look at the aftermarket designs- which always have better cooling solutions. Better cooling = longer life

Hmm i understand what you said, i will wait then. And i cant really even save 1$ in a week man always have financial issues LOL. So yeah i'll wait for now. Lets see what other people suggest also! Thanks alot for your reply!
