RX 480 4GB vs Gtx 1060 3GB

I have heard mixed reports when I asked about the 470 vs the 1060, but now I am considering the 480.

People keep telling me the 480 is worse than the 1060 but I don't know if they are referring to the 6gb version.

Is the 480 or 1060 better if the 1060 has 3GB for VR?

1060 6GB is better than the 480 8GB.

Don't buy the 1060 3GB get the 6GB

1060 6GB > RX 480(4/8) > 1060 3GB > RX 470

The 1060 6gb is better than the 480 8gb, however, the 480 4gb is better than the 1060 3gb. The RX 470 is an entirely different and lower performance tier.

This is because the 1060 3gb is a cut down version of the 6gb. It really should have been named the 1050ti or something, but I think it's dirty to still call it a 1060. The 1060 3gb and RX 480 4gb are about equal in DX11 game performance, but the 480 pulls a bit ahead in newer DX12 or Vulcan games.
